Day 3

Today was dad's last day that he was allowed to go outside. Mom said that he was feeling pretty tired today.

My mom said that she tripped and fell on the way into target and her knee is swollen up now, but that she is ok.

My aunt Terry stopped by for a visit today. She is a truck driver, so she makes quick stops every once in awhile.

Dad, so far looks like a piece of cake compired to what I was expecting to see. I have found a few other blogs of people that have tollerated this procedure good as well. You are really doing good. Do the doctors say you are past the worst of it or are they expecting you to get weaker as the days go past?

A question for the doctor: After the second stem cell transplant will you have the same blood type and will your blood have the same DNA or will you have the characteristics of the graft donor?

He will continue to weaken for a few more days until around day 7 or 8 when his blood counts start to come back up.

He will have the same characteristics as his donor, David. However, they are the same blood type so that will not change.

Someone was telling us a story about a man that got a transplant and the donor was a woman and on the chromosome level he has the same characteristics as the woman. His wife gave him a hard time about it, because he was always a manly man.
