Larry's in a total REMISSION that's right total REMISSION. All of the prayers have been answered. He's going to start back to work on Oct. 6/2008. He's been off work for 1 year and 6 months. His mouth is still very sore yet. Again thank you for all your prayers.

Larry went down to Columbus today, but he didn't see the doctor this time. Everything is looking very good. He goes back July 3/2008. In August they will be doing a complete workup on him.

We went down to Columbus today to see the doctor. There's no new news this time. We go back down on June 5/2008. Larry's doing about the same no better, or worst every thing's the same.

All of the tests came back normal, so this means that there's no infections. It's the graft-verses-host disease. The doctor up his Prenisone, and Prograf to try and stop the graft-verses-host disease. His Multiple Myeloma activity count is no longer showing up in the blood work, but it's still being seen in the other blood test that they do. We don't remember what it's called. When the Multiple Myeloma isn't seen there that means he's in remission. He goes back down on May 8/2008, so we'll try and get the name of this blood test then.

April 10/2008

Larry's having a lot of pain in his stomach and today has been very bad, so Dr. Hofmeister is going to have a look down there with a scope to see if there's something down there. This will be done on April 17/08 at the James at 8:30am. They took the blood work for the M count today, but the results wont be back for three or four days. He also put him back on the Prenisone and increased his Prograf. We see Dr. Hofmeister again on April, 24th to get the results of both tests.

Nathan & Deborah are going to have a little baby girl in August. This will be our first granddaughter.

Larry has had some rough days, but in all he's been doing OK. He goes down to Columbus on Thursday at 12:00pm

Larry's doing very good today. We go back down to Columbus, Ohio on April 10th, and we will be seen the doctor. I'll let you know what we find out on that day.

Larry got some very good news today. ;) The Multiple Myeloma activity (the M count) is down to 317 this is very good, because it was up to 2800 hundred cancer activity. They're taking him off the Prednisone, Fluconazole (Diflucan), and cutting back on the Bactrim D.S. from one a day to one every Monday and Thursday now. All his numbers are looking very good. We don't have to go back for four weeks this time, but if something would come up we are to call right away.

Larry's been doing very good. He goes down to Columbus Thursday to see the doctor, and we'll see what he has to say. I'll give everyone an update Thursday.

Feb. 28/2008

Larry went down to Columbus today (2-28-2008) we didn't see the doctor this time just had blood work done, and his numbers are looking good. The M count that tells us what the cancer is doing won't be back for three or four days. We go down to see the doctor on the 3-13-2008, and hope we'll know more then. Larry's been doing very good, and he's walking two to three miles a day.

Larry has a little sore throat today, but other then that he's doing fine. We went down to see the grandbabies this last Sunday and stayed until Thursday. It was Mason's birthday he's three years old now. We had a very good time, and hated to come back home. We don't go down to Columbus for two weeks, so if anything comes up I let you know.

Larry seen the doctor today, and everything's the same. The doctor said that he's going to start reducing the Prenisone slowly, so he can see if the stem cell transplant will do there job. There's just not to much to tell everyone, because it's is a wait and see game right now.

Larry had a very bad day yesterday with the shaking and pain because of the shaking. We go down to Columbus tomorrow to see the doctor, so I'll let you all know what the doctor has to say.

Larry's doing really good these last few days. The rash is coming along slowly but is getting better, and he's over his cold.

Ok here's what we found out today. Larry's M Protein count is down to 512. His M Protein was up to 2353. That puts the myeloma cancer activity down 80%. The doctor is very happy with this. We asked what's the next step, and he said that he would just be watching his M Protein count to see how far they drop. It's looking like the stem cell transplant is starting to do some work. We don't go back down to see the doctor for two weeks, so Feb. 14/2008 at 3:00pm is our next appointment.

Larry will be going down to Columbus tomorrow to see the doctor. We'll let you all know what he has to say about his treatment. Larry's having a very good day today, and the rash is looking a little better today.

Larry had a very good day today. He no longer has his cold, and the rash is about the same.
We love the baby countdown that Nathan has added to the blog. We are so excited to be having another grandbaby to spoil. Thank You Nathan & Deborah for letting us be part of this joy in your lives.

The trip down to Columbus on Thursday the 24th. Larry now has the graft-verse-host disease from his head to his toes. The doctor stop to see how Larry was doing, and He said that next Thursday he would talk with him about a plan that he would like to try. Larry wasn't to see the doctor yesterday but the doctor seen him setting in the hallway and stopped. The doctor up his medications. The Prednisone now he takes 40mg daily, and put him back on the Prograf. He also give him something for his mouth.We'll let you all know what the doctor tell us next Thursday.

Larry's mouth is getting very sore. Maybe the doctor can give him something to help with it tomorrow. He's not feeling very good today because of his mouth and a headache.
Through his blog Larry has heard from a cousin from his dad side. They are trying to get caught up with everything that's been going in there lives.

Larry's rash is starting to look a little better today. Mason's keeping him hoping. We love having him here with us it makes the days go by faster.

Larry's mouth inside is getting sore. His cold is getting a little better, and the rash is now on his hands and legs but not to bad. We go down to Columbus on Thursday.
We have our grandson Mason here with us this week, so he keeps us very busy. We just came in from outside and we were very cold, but he was not cold. We took him out on the pond and walked him around on it. He thought that was so cool that he was walking on the water, and didn't want to get off of it to come in.

Well Larry's rash has moved down on his legs and palms of his hands today. The cold is about the same maybe a little better.

Doctors report hopeful.
The cancers activity is a lot lower , 69% LOWER
This due to the Valcade (chemotherapy) received December 14 thru 21.
I have developed graft-verse-host disease (GVHD) which is manifested by a skin rash on my torso and thickening of tissue in my mouth (white spots). A mild form of GVHD maybe a sign the new immune system (stem cell transplant) is fighting cancer. So far I have the mild form of GVHD. We have to watch this very carefully.
Valcade treatment was stopped due to doctors not being sure what would happen if the Valcade was given while I have GVHD. This has not been tested on humans.
This gives us an opportunity to see if my new immune system can fight the cancer.
The Valcade was so effective in fighting the cancer that we are hoping the immune system or the Valcade will put the cancer in remission.
I was put on steroids to help suppress the effects of the GVHD. I have been given pain medications and they seem to be doing their job.

Larry's cold is about the same, but his rash is looking a little bit better today. We go down to see the doctor tomorrow to find out what it is. I'll let everyone know what we find out tomorrow.

Larry's very tired today. His cold is still about the same, and so is the rash. Other then that he's doing OK. We were hoping to get down to see all the kids and grand babies this weekend, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Larry's cold is a little better today, but he's been very sleepy today. The rash is the same today. I tryed to take some pictures of his rash, but you couldn't see it in the pictures.

Well we had to make a run down to Columbus today, because Larry got up this morning with a rash all over his torso. The doctor thinks it's the graft-verse-host disease. They had to stop the chemo again, and put him on Prednisone (common brand name Deltasone), and Triamcinolone - Topical (common brand name Aristocort A, Aristocort HP, Kenalog, Triderm). His cold is getting a little better today.

Larry said that he's doing a little better today, and is out walking right now. It's 63 out there, so maybe this will do him some good. I told him not to over do it.

Larry's not any better today. His cold is about the same. He was going to try and take a walk, but he just couldn't get up the energy to do it. Maybe he can try later. If he's not better by Wednesday I'll call the doctor, and get him in to see him. We'll just have to take one day at a time.

Earlier this morning Larry was having some pain in the area of his kidneys. I told him to drink more water and see if this would help. He just got up and said that this pain is not there, so drinking more water must have helped. He forgets to drink a lot of water. They are always telling him to drink more water. Well his up and moving around, so I need to see if he needs anything. I'll write more later as the day goes by.

Larry went down to Columbus for his Chemo treatment today, but they called the doctor and told him that he still had his cold so the doctor came down to see him. He told Larry that he was going to cancel all his Chemo for a week, so he can get over his cold. He all so is giving Larry something for his depression that he has been have trouble with lately.
Larry and I are going to be new grandparents again. This time it's our youngest son and his wife having there first baby. We are so happy for them. I can't wait to hold this baby. We'll have three geandbabies to spoil. ;)

Larry's about the same today. He was in bed a lot today. His sister called him today, and that helps a lot for him to hear from his brothers and sisters. Keep up with the calls.
On a happier note it was my birthday today. My sister called me and sang happy birthday to me. Nathan and Deb brought me a gift over. Nathan and Deb I just love my gift, and I had fun with it.

Larry's not getting any better. He's getting so rundown trying to fight this cold off. He's not running a temperature, so I don't know what's going on. He goes down to Columbus for his treatment on Friday, so maybe they can tell us what's going on.
